The Lauge-Hansen classification is based on a cadaveric study involving two aspects the position of the foot at the time of injury and the direction of the applied deforming force. The Weber classification is based on the relationship of the level of the distal fibular fracture with the syndesmosis, in an attempt to quantify stability. Although many classification systems are proposed, three most widely used ones are the AO, Weber and the Lauge-Hansen classification. ![]()
